Future Live-Ins Step Up
In a commendable move, the future live-ins have agreed to take on the responsibility of painting all the interior bedrooms or managing their rooms. With 23 rooms in total, this initiative saves approximately $20,000 in our budget for Nationals. Many of the rooms have murals that the brothers appreciate, so they will decide individually if they want fresh paint or to preserve the artwork.
Stairwell Upgrades
Our house is a BEAST with strong bones, and we’re making significant improvements to its interior. The three stairwells in the house are receiving a major upgrade, transitioning from carpet to durable rubber treads, similar to those found in hospitals. This $42,600 investment means no more carpet in the common areas!
Workday Success
During our second workday, the brothers painted the various stairwells with a base coat of Revere Pewter Gray in preparation for the rubber tread installation. This effort not only enhances the aesthetics but also ensures long-term durability.
Bathroom Renovation
Thanks to all the sweat equity from the brothers, Nationals has agreed to reposition the savings to update the original (circa 1949) 2nd floor bathroom near Room 201. This upgrade is highly anticipated as the bathroom shower has been out of use for years due to leaks causing damage to the first floor. Additionally, the old iron plumbing has led to frequent toilet clogs, making this renovation both necessary and appreciated.
Looking Ahead
These improvements are just the beginning, and we’re excited about the positive impact they will have on the living experience for our brothers. Your continued support and involvement are crucial as we work together to maintain and enhance our fraternity house.
